Senators Beat Bruins Again

Ottawa, Ontario (CP) –

The Senators took on the Bruins for the second time out of three days, and the same result happened but the game was a little bit tighter, but the Senators stayed undefeated with a 3-2 victory. Tonight’s game was the preseason home opener and fans packed the arena to see the Senator’s. The feel of the fans and watching the game gave a feel of a post season game, or a team that is going to be very special this upcoming year.

The Senators came out and took a 2-0 commanding lead first goal was scored by Milan Hejduk (2G) early in the first period. The Senators controlled the puck in the Bruins zone for over a minute before the wiley veteran scored. The second goal was scored by the Senators fourth line by Chuck Kobasew. Kobasew was dressed tonight after Michael Ryder was injured in last night’s game with a sore leg. The Bruins were able to get on the board with a controversial goal by defender Andrew Albert’s, which the official had to call Toronto for the video replay which was called a goal.

In the second period the Bruins were at a feverish pace but the Sen’s scored from center Patrik Berglund too seal the game at 3-1. Less than a minute later the Bruins inched closer by a goal by Cody McLeod. The Bruins were shutdown shot wise against the Senators only allowing five shots on net, where the Senators were relentless and firing 11 shots on Bryzgalov but didn’t manage to tally anything in the third.

Tuukka Rask showed the most improvement In today’s game. This will be Tuukka’s first chance of being a #1 goalie and his future is very bright, but his future is right now. Many fans believe the Senators will go as far Tuukka takes them. So far it’s been a lukewarm reception to say the least, he does boast a 2-0-1 record, but some of the goals he has let it has been bad ones.

The Senators get a well deserve rest day tomorrow has they host the Toronto Maple Leafs. Which all pundits believe the race for the Northeast Division crown will be between the Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Buffalo Sabres. So this is going to be a big preview to come on when the games start counting for real.
